Bow making can be simple, but is can also be exacting. When you tie your bows, you want to make sure you get Tidy Twists for the greatest aesthetic outcome possible. There is a product on the market that helps you hold your ribbon, so you can tie your bows perfectly. It costs $29.99 and I have heard mixed reviews about the results it gives you. I do not endorse it personally, but that's just me.

I do not think that bow making needs to involve anything at all that you cannot pick up at supply stores for just a little bit of money. That is the beauty of making hair bows -- your start up costs are super low, because there is no need for special tools.

Saving money is a priority for many of us and what some folks have discovered is that there is a tool you can buy at beauty supply stores that help you hold your ribbon in place while you are tying your knots. I am not advocating creases, because there are those who fully believe they own the rights to the actual act of creasing a bow. I am talking about holding ribbon steady while you exact a tidy twist or fold. In fact, you can usually get a 4-pack for $1.69.

Unfortunately, we have been asked by the seller of the expensive device to remove our photos and instructions due to a patent she is seeking on the concept of making a crease in a bow. I know. It sounds silly, but all I can do is be polite and back off, because I do believe at least one party involved should be as polite as possible.

In the meantime, I do still encourage you to use Jumbo Salon Clip from Sally Beauty to hold your bow fold steady while you are tying. Again, I'm not advocating creasing. I just think the hair clip is a a great tool to use in place of that third hand you're always wishing you had while tying bows.

The longer you are part of the online bow making community, you will see that there are those in it for the art and those in it for the cash. There are hundreds of beautiful women selling their handcrafted bows on the web. It's a wonderful thing to watch women use their skills to make enough extra income to stay home with their kids. This site is about giving you the tools you need to succeed, but giving them to you for free. We will seek to give you more as time goes by.
